Premium Finishing Fabric for Tufting

This premium 100% cotton finishing fabric is applied to the back of your creation once tufting is complete and the yarn has been secured with glue.

Also known as secondary fabric or backing, it covers the back of your rug, concealing the primary fabric and glue for a clean, neat finish.

At 330 g/m², it is our thickest finishing fabric. It is especially suitable when you want to give the back of your creation extra attention.

Benefits of Premium Finishing Fabric for Tufted Rugs

Its 100% cotton composition lets you finish your creation with natural-fiber backing. At 330 g/m², it is also thicker than our other finishing fabrics.

It is therefore an alternative to standard fabric when you want a thicker, especially neat finish for the back of your rugs and tufted creations.

Attaching Premium Finishing Fabric to the Back of Your Rug

First, finish tufting and secure the yarn on the back with carpet glue. Wait until it is dry enough before finishing.

Then cut your finishing fabric, allowing enough material to cover the back of your creation properly. Position it, then attach it to the back with a suitable adhesive.

Once everything is securely attached, you can trim the excess fabric and work on the edges to achieve a neat finish.

It is applied after finishing the tufting and securing the yarn on the back with glue. Allow your glue to dry for the recommended time before continuing with the finishing touches.

Does finishing fabric replace primary fabric?

No. The primary fabric is stretched over your frame and receives the yarn directly during tufting. The backing fabric is added to the back once your creation is finished. They therefore serve two different purposes.

Are the edges of the fabric finished?

No. The edges are not locked or hemmed. The fabric can be cut and worked to the dimensions and shape of your creation.
