Some projects are close to our hearts, and this one is definitely one of them.
At the invitation of Ynov Campus in Sophia Antipolis, I had the pleasure of leading a tufting workshop for interior architecture students as part of the FABRYK program.
Over the course of 20 hours of training, they were able to discover a practice at the crossroads of design, art, and material.

An artist who graduated from Villa Arson in Nice and co-founder of the platform letufting.fr, which aims to make tufting accessible to everyone — through a specialist online shop offering quality supplies, as well as educational resources for learning the technique.
I design and lead tufting courses in art, design, and architecture schools, while also running workshops for the general public to introduce this contemporary textile technique to people aged 15 and over.
Tufting as a tool for textile exploration
Tufting is a craft technique for creating wool rugs or wall pieces using a tufting gun. It is also a gateway to a freer, more intuitive approach to textiles.
During this workshop, the students had the chance to:
-
get to grips with professional equipment (tufting gun, frame, fabric, wool),
-
experiment with the basics of textile composition,
-
learn every step involved in making a rug, from A to Z.

An experience that sharpens the vision of future interior architects
This type of workshop helps students better understand materials, work with them, and consider their potential in a space.
By exploring a technique such as tufting, they refine their eye for textures, volumes, and the interactions between disciplines.
When it comes time to develop client projects, this experience will give them a more thoughtful, well-rounded, and multidisciplinary approach - essential in a profession where different mediums constantly intersect: textiles, furniture, lighting, colors, surfaces...
Sharing knowledge about materials, hands-on work, and experimentation
This workshop is part of my approach: sharing a contemporary practice rooted in hands-on work and experimentation, and accessible to everyone, even without any prior artistic training.
Thank you to the entire teaching team for their trust, and a huge congratulations to the students for their commitment, curiosity, and desire to do things differently.
