Tufting training at Ynov Campus Sophia Antipolis

Formation Tufting à Ynov Campus Sophia Antipolis

There are projects that are close to our hearts, and this is definitely one of them.

At the invitation of the Ynov Campus school in Sophia Antipolis , I had the pleasure of hosting a tufting workshop for interior design students, as part of the FABRYK program.
During 20 hours of training, they were able to discover a practice at the crossroads of design, art and material.

Artist graduated from Villa Arson in Nice and co-founder of the platform letufting.fr , which aims to make tufting accessible to everyone — through a specialized online store offering quality equipment, but also educational resources to learn how to practice.
I design and lead tufting training courses in art, design and architecture schools, while also leading workshops for the general public to introduce this contemporary textile technique to children aged 15 and over.

Tufting as a tool for textile exploration

Tufting is a craft technique that allows you to create rugs or wall hangings from wool using a tufting gun. It's also a gateway to a freer and more intuitive approach to textiles.

During this workshop, students were able to:

  • take control of professional tools (tufting gun, frame, canvas, wool),

  • experiment with the basics of textile composition,

  • learn all the steps of making a rug, from A to Z.

An experience that refines the vision of future interior designers

This type of workshop allows students to better understand materials, to manipulate them and to consider their potential in a space.

By exploring a technique like tufting, they refine their view of textures, volumes, and the interactions between disciplines.

When the time comes to design client projects, this experience will offer them a more sensitive, comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach – essential in a profession where mediums constantly intersect: textiles, furniture, light, colors, surfaces, etc.

A transmission around matter, gesture and experimentation

This workshop is part of my approach: to transmit a contemporary practice, anchored in gesture and experimentation, and accessible to all, even without prior artistic training.

Thank you to the entire teaching team for their trust, and a big congratulations to the students for their involvement, their curiosity, and their desire to do things differently.
