"The pieces explore harmonious relationships between shapes and colors, with curves and patterns that evoke dynamics of coming together and separating," he says. "I like all my pieces to be handmade from start to finish, which is why I continue to do it," he says. While the process is time-consuming, he finds it therapeutic. "My favorite part is seeing the design come to life before my eyes. It's so satisfying and therapeutic," he explains. However, he acknowledges that the final phase, particularly cutting and sewing the edges, can be laborious. Yet, he knows it's essential for a perfect finish.
Sebastian's studio is a true haven of creativity. Filled with color and carefully curated materials, it inspires. On his shelves, large spools of thread are arranged by shade. This pastel palette perfectly reflects the soft, dreamy aesthetic of his work. This corner is both functional and inspiring. "It's my pastel oasis and creative refuge," he says, describing this space where he spends hours bringing his ideas to life.
Sebastian draws inspiration from artists like Karla Black , whose abstract approach and ephemeral materials influence his aesthetic. Korean visual culture, particularly its love of pastel colors, is also a source of inspiration. "Pastels evoke a feeling of joy and melancholy for me, creating a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere," he explains. His creations invite the viewer into a soft, dreamy world, where shapes and pastel colors come together to create a unique aesthetic.
